ZACH PIETRINI
If your record collection includes Bruce Springsteen, The War on Drugs, Bleachers or great American songwriters who know how to make a lyric hit as hard as a guitar, Zach Pietrini belongs on your radar.
The Milwaukee-based singer, songwriter and bandleader has spent years building a reputation for fearlessly honest writing, infectious melodies and live performances that can move from intimate and reflective to full-throttle rock & roll in a heartbeat. Pietrini came up through the Chicago music scene before settling in Milwaukee, developing a modern Americana sound rooted in classic heartland rock but very much his own.
And this isn't simply a great local band waiting to be discovered.
Milwaukee Magazine named The Zach Pietrini Band one of Milwaukee's Best Live Acts. Pietrini has appeared at Summerfest, SXSW, Mile of Music and Bastille Days, toured extensively around the country, and has shared bills or served as support for artists including Huey Lewis & The News, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Walker Hayes. When he opened for Huey Lewis & The News, Pietrini and the band walked out in front of roughly 5,000 people — proof that these songs can fill a major stage just as comfortably as they can command an intimate listening room.
But the real reason to see Zach Pietrini is the live show.
This is music built around storytelling and connection. Pietrini can write about regret, nostalgia, relationships, growing older and the strange distance between the life we imagined and the life we're actually living — then surround those ideas with guitars, hooks and a band capable of turning introspection into something exhilarating. A live review from Americana Highways described Pietrini attacking his guitar with huge, freewheeling strokes before the band built the title song into a loud, rollicking anthem.
His press materials describe an artist with an energetic, endearing stage presence and an everyman's approach to songwriting — music designed to meet people where they are and hold them there.
